Retreat description

This retreat is for any adult looking to create balance, catch their breath and remind themselves of their beauty through yoga and meditation in a beautiful natural surrounding. Enjoy a massage, vegetarian meals, floating in the mangroves and yoga twice a day as well as DIY self-care guided by Dionne and Joanne.

This retreat will take place at Watamu Treehouse in Kenya.

Meet your teacher for this retreat.

Dionne did her 1st 30 day challenge when she was 204 pounds in July 2010. She was on medical leave from her corporate career, dealing with health issues and a myriad of family challenges. In a change of lifestyle revolution, she left financial services and signed up for Bikram Yoga teacher training. She graduated from Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in June 2012 over 70 pounds lighter in body and stress. When not teaching or practicing Bikram yoga, she is a mother of 2 young men (one of whom is also a certified BY teacher), certified life coach, West African Dance performer & teacher, actress, public speaker on mental illness, blogger, meditation leader, people gatherer and a generally overactive energetic yet sleep-deprived person. (Sleep, what is that? Isn’t that what Ardha-Kurmasansa, Half-Tortoise pose, is for?) Also certified in Living Food Lifestyle she loves preparing smoothies and dishes (raw or cooked) for her friends and family.

Dionne teaches Bikram Yoga and Yin Nidra.


Daily schedule

Day 2 (example)

  • Wake up to the beautiful salt air in Watamu! It's time for yoga from 7:30am: 8:45am.  

  • Afterwards enjoy a vegetarian buffet breakfast inclusive of dairy free and gluten free options. Fresh fruits galore!

  • 10:30am-11:30 am Meditation, journaling and sharing.  

  • 12:30  Lunch: Soup, salad smoothies

  • 2:00pm-4:00pm Free time  or beach time

  • 5:00pm-6:15pm Vinyasa-Yin Flow

  • 6:30pm-7:30pm Dinner

Retreat food

Abundant in flavour, colour, nutrients and freshness

We source our ingredients with care, supporting local producers, and we prepare it with love.

Our lunches and dinners are abundant “set-meals” and always include a soup or starter, a vegetarian main course, a variety of sides and salads, and a dessert. We serve fresh juice or coconut water and a variety of hot drinks after the meal.  Great for vegans, and gluten and dairy-free.

Watamu Treehouse on the beach in Kenya:

  • unique architecture-rooms have views of sunrises or sunsets (or both!)

  • set in a coastal forest on one of the best white-sand beaches in Kenya

Getting to this yoga retreat

The closest airport is Malindi on the East Coast of Kenya, which is approximately 25 minutes taxi ride from Treehouse. We can arrange transfers. The following airlines fly to Malinda: Jambojet; Fly540; Air Kenya; Fly SAX; Silverstone; Kenya Airways. You can also fly to Mombasa International Airport on the airlines listed above plus Kenya Airways. Mombasa is approximately 2 hours drive from Treehouse. Or take the SGR Train to Mombasa and we can send a taxi to collect you.
