November Wellness Weekend

Ocean of Awareness

Led by Bettina Bachmann

This wellness weekend:

Immerse yourself in a soul-nourishing journey of Jivamukti yoga and inspired experiences, set against the breathtaking coastline of Watamu. Over the course of the weekend, we’ll explore the ocean — both around us and within us — through Jivamukti’s five tenets, blending movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connection.

Flow through energising asana practices, swim in turquoise waters, meditate with the sunrise, and let the ocean’s wisdom deepen your connection to self and the world.

Wellness Weekends are our signature experience for those seeking a mini retreat on the Kenyan Coast. These long weekends only happen on selected dates throughout the year, and include 3 nights on half board, 4 yoga sessions, 2 deeply relaxing massages, a guided nature-based adventure, walks, time to rest, reflect, and connect with community. Each Wellness Weekend is different, led by a different visiting teacher, bringing their unique blend of trainings and experience.

Meet your teacher for this retreat, Bettina

In my Jivamukti classes, I weave together asana sequences, chanting, breath awareness, yoga philosophy, alignment exploration, hands-on assists, relaxation, and meditation. Whether the class is a dynamic vinyasa flow or a more restorative practice, I aim to create an experience where the spiritual theme is felt throughout — from the intention we set at the beginning to the final moments of stillness. My wish is that students leave class with a sense of connection, presence, and inspiration that they can carry into their daily lives.

Since 2022, I’ve been studying and mentoring with Clare Nicholls at Hrdayam in Bern, Switzerland. A transformative journey that continues to shape my teaching and personal growth. After training under Tone Haugland, Jutta Ariane Mele-Maurer, and Conor Byrnes, I am now an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Teacher. My studies also included Elementary Sanskrit with Dr. Antonia Ruppel (Yogic Studies) and Pranayama Teacher Training Level 1 with Robert Moses and Eddie Stern, where traditional practices meet modern scientific insight.

I’ve been teaching for over five years, beginning in Moscow and now sharing yoga in Nairobi, offering both group and private classes. Yoga has been part of my life since my twenties, and over time it has grown from a physical practice into a way of living. A path of self-study (svadhyaya), awareness, and compassion. Teaching allows me to grow alongside my students; each class is a shared journey of exploration and discovery.
